Establish a Targeted Need
SRF support begins with a defined problem, question, or opportunity where research can serve a meaningful purpose. The foundation is interested in work that starts with a real need and stays connected to practical benefit.
Stickler Research Foundation is a newly formed nonprofit created to support university research, applied science, and public-benefit innovation. The foundation is early in its work, but clear in its intent: to help capable people and meaningful ideas move closer to real-world benefit.
The foundation began with a desire to give back through research, education, and targeted support.
We can achieve more than we thought possible with the right targeted support.
Patrick Stickler founded the organization after a career shaped by engineering, research, teaching, and mentorship. Through that work, he saw how much becomes possible when capable people receive support that is specific, thoughtful, and aligned with a meaningful goal.
The foundation is not trying to appear larger than it is. It is building a credible starting point for long-term support, careful communication, and work that can benefit society.
Stickler Research Foundation was created around a simple belief: individuals, teams, and institutions are capable of more than they may realize. With thoughtful, targeted support, promising research and ideas can move closer to meaningful real-world impact.
Inspiring the inherent means recognizing the talent, motivation, and potential that already exist within people and ideas, then helping direct that potential toward research, education, innovation, and public benefit.

Promising research often moves forward when a capable person or team sees a path others may have missed. SRF looks for thoughtful approaches in education, applied science, and innovation that can turn focused inquiry into useful progress.
Inspiring the inherent means recognizing the talent, motivation, and potential already present within people and ideas. Targeted support can help students, faculty, researchers, and institutions build confidence, momentum, and capacity.
The foundation is oriented toward nonprofit, apolitical work for the betterment of society. Its support is intended for research and education that can improve lives, inform decisions, encourage discovery, and contribute to public benefit.
Patrick brings together advanced engineering experience, academic research, university teaching, mentorship, and a philanthropic purpose.
His background includes a UW PhD in Mechanical Engineering, a Boeing career that included service as a Technical Fellow, advanced work in structures and materials development, patents, published research, and continued applied engineering practice as founder of Cascade View Residential Structural Engineering, PLLC.
Teaching and mentoring have also been central to that path. As an adjunct professor and mentor to students and engineers, Patrick has seen how focused encouragement and practical support can help capable people move further than they thought possible.
Patrick founded Stickler Research Foundation to continue supporting nonprofit research, education, and public-benefit innovation. After a career shaped by opportunity, challenge, and knowledge-building, the foundation reflects his desire to share what he has learned and help make the world better to the best of our abilities.
